PUPPETry

A puppeteer for over 20 years, Alex has performed in a number of films, commercials, digital shorts, and live performances covering a wide variety of performance styles.

Active in the puppet community, Alex is also a Film Coordinator and filmmaker for Heather Henson's Handmade Puppet Dreams film series (with 16 short currently on Amazon Prime Video), Vice President of the Los Angeles Guild of Puppetry, and President for Puppeteers of America.

Wanting to encourage others, Alex also produces, curates, and hosts  the biennial Reel Puppetry Film Festival and the highly popular yearly 48hr Puppet Film Project

Alex has attended the prestigious Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's National Puppetry Conference for eight years, studying with Marty Robinson (Sesame Street), Tyler Bunch (The Muppets), Ronnie Burkett (The Daisy Theater), and many more. In 2014, he was invited to be an Emerging Artist at the conference, directing his own short table-top toy theater piece, "Northern Lights."

As a cinematographer and director, Alex has worked on wide variety of projects, often working both behind and in front of the camera. He recently wrapped filming the upcoming all-puppet feature Yamasong: March of the Hollows for director Sam Koji Hale and Dark Dunes Productions.
 

As a photographer, Alex's puppetry photos have been seen in Playbill, Puppet Life, The Iowa Source, The Puppetry Journal, and he has been an official photographer of the National Puppetry Festival for the past four years. 

Alex cares deeply for the puppet community, the art and craft that it represents. 

Alex is a film coordinator for Ibex Puppetry's Handmade Puppet Dreams, a Director at Large for Puppeteer of America, and Vice President of the Los Angeles Guild of Puppetry. 

For the footage in this trailer, Alex served at various points as gaffer, cinematographer and a puppeteer.

Alex has curated events and screenings for the the LA Guild of Puppetry, Puppeteers of America, and Heather Henson's Ibex Puppetry.
