AT HOME PUPPET FILMMAKING WORKSHOP!

Dive into the basics of filmic storytelling with puppetry with this three-part online workshop led by puppet filmmaker Alex U. Griffin!

Perfect for aspiring filmmakers and puppeteers alike, this workshop will look at pre-production, production, and post-production over three evening classes. Optional homework assignments will also be given, allowing one to essentially create a short film at home alongside the classes!

April 01 (no joke): Class 1, Pre-Production: This introductory class will take an overview look at puppet filmmaking before diving into aspects helpful in pre-production of a short film - scripts, overheads, blocking/framing, storyboards/picture-boards and animatics.

April 08: Class 2, Production: This class will look at cameras/formats, lenses, setting the set, lighting, and the organization of footage. May touch on editing basics.

April 15: Class 3, Post-Production: This class will focus on editing tricks and tips, adding music and sound effects to your film, and things to think about for festivals.

The 48hr Puppet Film Project 2026 films April 17-19th - participation in the event, using the skills you used, is highly encouraged!

Hope to see you and your creativity real soon!
